Food writer and photographer
Maryam is a food writer and food photographer.
She was born in Tehran, Iran, and lived there most of her life. Maryam worked as a researcher, author, political analyst and journalist for years but had a passion for cooking and writing since childhood.
In 2011 events of life brought her to the UK. She soon noticed that Persian food was hugely under-represented in the British culinary scene.
While working as a political and media analyst for the US embassy
in the UK. She dedicated her free time to her passion for cooking and culinary research.
In 2015 she launched The Persian Fusion (www.thepersianfusion.com), a blog where she shared her own fusion and authentic Persian recipes. The huge success of the blog encouraged her to start working on a cookbook she had always wanted to write to share her family recipes and the many unique recipes she had collected during her travels in Iran over the years.
Juggling a day job and her family responsibilities she found it very difficult to make the arrangements for professional styling and food photography of her book so she undertook to do the styling and photography for the book herself.
Maryam always says she is a home cook, not a chef and loves to share homestyle Persian dishes and treats.
